Teletherapy

Not all changes were terrible during COVID.

When the pandemic hit, more than always, we felt the need to “think outside the box.”

Life in the time of COVID made us adjust our lives in ways we did not consider before.

Telehealth was one of those adjustments that proved to be extremely helpful in continuing care during those uncertain days.

Teletherapy is here to stay. It takes away from the commute, saves time, and is convenient.

Teletherapy is still therapy that works.

Teletherapy is the same as in-person sessions. The main difference is that you don’t travel to the therapist’s office.

You choose a convenient location for you, including your house, office, car – basically anywhere that you can talk comfortably and confidentially.

All you need is a reliable Internet connection and access to a video-enabled device such as your phone or laptop.

I will provide you with access to a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform link to connect and participate in the session.

There are a few cons to consider.

We rely on the Internet for teletherapy, so there is always a chance of losing connection or having a poor connection that can interrupt the flow of the session.

There is always a chance of the content becoming compromised for electronic transactions regardless of the safety measures taken.

Teletherapy is not suitable for every situation.

Not every condition or client is suitable for treatment via teletherapy. I assess the situation and decide whether teletherapy is a proper approach based on the client’s presenting concerns.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, clients who typically have in-person sessions cannot show up to the therapy office. I accommodate those clients with telehealth sessions so that there is no interruption in our work.

For Accelerated Resolution Therapy sessions, we might be able to utilize teletherapy depending on the subject we decide to work on for that session. Teletherapy is not an option for the first couple of times you will be trying ART.

Teletherapy is also not a suitable replacement for in-person sessions when one is in crisis.

Let’s see if teletherapy works for you.

If teletherapy interests you, contact me to discuss whether it is a suitable option for you.

For those for whom teletherapy is suitable, the results will surprise you. We still have eye contact, you can share what’s on your mind, and I can listen and provide positive interaction.

Don’t let life’s other commitments prevent you from seeking an alternative to in-person therapy.
